Ben Onuoha, Community Africa at ConsenSys

Ben has an MBA from the Wits Business School of the University of the Witswatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and has over 10 years of diverse experience in tech startups, community building, project management, healthcare and international development. He currently works at ConsenSys as Community Lead for Africa where his responsibilities include developing and managing strong relationships in the public and private sectors as well as developer communities to bring stakeholders together and educate them on Blockchain specifically Ethereum. He is also the Founder of the Africa Blockchain Alliance which is a non-profit focused on educating Africans on blockchain and networking blockchain actors on the continent. Ben’s areas of interest are in innovation/emerging technology, youth leadership and entrepreneurship ecosystems development. Ben is further interested in how new and emerging technologies such as blockchain can create a more inclusive, diverse and fair society.


Eseoghene Mentie - QA Manager, uPort – ConsenSys

Ese has a background in computer science with over 10 year’s experience in building, deploying and supporting quality enterprise, payment & SaaS products across West Africa and Asia. She is highly passionate about quality, test engineering, and continuous improvement, and currently advocates for its presence in all facets of technology. She believes in the positive change that blockchain technologies will bring to Africa. Ese currently advocates for quality product releases at uPort and ConsenSys and also supports users/ developers. When not tapping away at her computer, she loves karaoke and is a fan of swimming/Japanese anime.


Joshua Cassidy – Co-founder and Technical Lead, Kauri – ConsenSys

Josh is the technical lead of the Kauri spoke at ConsenSys and has ten year’s experience delivering software solutions in the financial industry. Josh moved to Consensys to participate in the development of the Ethereum ecosystem. Using his software engineering background, he aims to build next-generation software platforms and marketplaces which redefine how value is determined, controlled and transferred, ensuring rewards are captured by value creators.


Irungu Waggema - Chair, Product Review Committee, Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc. 

A seasoned Capital Markets & Innovation Specialist, ICT and Business Continuity professional of integrity and excellence, Irungu Waggema has over 16 years’ experience and involvement in key capital Market initiatives in Kenya such as the Automation of the Market, setting up the Wide Area Trading Network, deploying the industry wide Broker Back Office with Internet and Mobile Trading, deploying the derivatives markets and currently exploring the use of Block chain for capital markets. He has global exposure to capital markets spanning from the Nairobi Securities Exchange, the London Stock Exchange, Korea Exchange, the Dubai Financial Markets, The Egyptian Exchange, Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and the Nigerian Stock Exchange. 

Irungu Waggema sits as the Chair of the Product Review Committee at the Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc., Secretary of the Disruptive Technology Working Group of African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), member of the M-Akiba Implementation Team, the African Block Chain Alliance, and the ISACA. He is a past conference speaker in various conferences including 2018 Building African Financial Markets Conference and the 2018 AFDB Digital Transformation of African Capital Markets: The Case of M-Akiba in Kenya Webinar; Bonds, loans, Sukuk East Africa, Eastern and Southern Africa Financial Sector Dialogues. He has also authored the M-Akiba Bond Issuance Report, 2018 and part of the editorial team for a white paper for the UNECE on the use of Blockchain Technologies, Trade Facilitation and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 


Nakia White - Chief Executive Officer, HouseAfrica 

Entrepreneurial, globally focused, and politically savvy, HouseAfrica Acting CEO Nakia J. White, MBA, is highly regarded throughout the public and private sectors for her keen insight, motivational leadership, and tireless community engagement.
